Effective Public Speaking is an art that can be learned with practice, patience and perseverance. If its techniques are mastered, the speaker's confidence level increases; this results in enhancing speaking skills. All those who want to make it a career need to digest it thoroughly. Even those who are interested in training and HR need to learn its skills.

Public speaking is the process of speaking to a group of people in a properly structured, deliberate manner with the intention to inform, influence, or entertain the listeners.

There are five basic elements of communication involved in it which are often expressed as ''who is saying, what to whom using what medium with what effects?'' The purpose of public speaking can range from simply transmitting information, to motivating people to act, to simply telling a story. Good orators should be able to change the emotions of their listeners, not just inform them.



It involves delivering information to people who are, waiting to get some information.
Speaking publicly is an art, where the speaker appeals the audience. Best examples of public speakers in society are politicians, religious gurus and college professors. We find plenty of people who are terrified of delivering a speech.

People that will listen to you have something to learn from you. Most of us are thinking of speakers better than us, and fear delivering a speech. It is better that we concentrate on them who would be benefited from our speech, and deliver our best, which will help us overcome the demon within us.

Students who want to take up public speaking as a career need to keep following things in mind prior to delivering a speech:
  • Should be thoroughly prepared with the content/topic on which you are going to speak.
  • Keep the understanding level of audience in mind.
  • Decide what he needs to know.
  • What will attract him and make him listen to you.
If you present your self in interestingly it is certain that your speech will surely be appreciated. It is always advisable to practice the speech in from of someone you know or on your own. Rehearse it, listen carefully and time yourself. Pre setting sessions will help you to perfect your tone, speed and rhythm; which will make your speech better and you a better speaker.

Be confident in your knowledge and presentation and that will keep you in limelight of your audience. Be calm and be with yourself, walk in confidently, and you will be able to capture the crowd. Start strong, pick up right words of your opening carefully, and trust yourself.
